night on fic mountain 2016 dear writer letter
Dear Night on Fic Mountain Writer,
First of all, thank you so much for writing for me! I've sorted this letter by fandom so you can find the relevant one(s) easily, and there are plot/inspirations at the end that are non-fandom specific if you're like me and thrive on inspirations.
This is only a wild dream, but if you do happen to write any combination of xxxholic and/or noragami and/or natsume yuujinchou and/or chihayafuru, some kind of crossover of that would be amazing, whether in one of the canons (Yuuko and Yato have a working connection? Natsume meets Watanuki? Yato's name in in Natsume's book? Karuta is a supernatural-type duelling card game?) or an au. Of course, this is purely optional.
In fact, if you happen to write more than one of my requested fandoms, feel free to mix and mash them up as you please!
There are so many things I like about xxxholic that it's hard to explain. I like the way Doumeki and Watanuki bicker, I like Yuuko's relatinship with all of them, I really like Himawari (but I like her more as a self-contained person? As in, not necessarily as close to Doumeki and Watanuki because I think she has a lot of potential outside their smaller world). So while I would be open to reading Doumeki/Watanuki/Himawari I'm more of a fan of her being related to them/connected to them, but not intimately so. Kohane I don't think ended up getting nominated so of course I can't formally request her, but if you're at all interested in her, I think she makes a very interesting side character.
I really like both canon and au xxxholic and probably what I would like most to read would be some kind of Doumeki/Watanuki fic (whether post canon/canon divergent/completely au) where they just do stuff, be it a grand plotty adventure or small vignettes of daily life. There can be supernatural things or not, it can be completely mundane or it can be urban fiction ^^ if Yuuko is involved things can go crazy or she can be a professor who drives Watanuki crazy or she can be Yuuko in canon/post-canon/canon-divergent.

Probably what I like most about Chihayafuru is the Taichi/Chihaya/Arata dynamic, so I'd love to read that in a fic, and a large focus on Taichi/Arata within that would be awesome since the canon focuses so much on Chihaya. (Not that I don't love Chihaya! It's just cool to get a different perspective.) While canon is A+, I'm really a terribly huge fan of post-canon/canon-divergent (whether it be a large dramatic plot or small vignettes or a small adventure) or au - you can choose to include karuta or not, but an au (for instance, a different sport, or space au or something completely different) would still be able to focus on the dynamic between the characters but in a different context - also cool! It would even be cool to not have karuta but include references to the poems or something like that? Really anything that explores the relationship between them (whether them figuring it out and getting together or already established) would be fabulous!

There are so many things I like about Noragami that honestly I'd just love to read any fic about it. But trying to get into specifics, you could explore the strange connection between Yato and Nora (not necessarily a relationship, they've always seemed a little too messed up for that, but even post-relationship could be cool? Or just go and please terrify me or write something really experimental and crazy or try to analyze what kind of headspace Yato was in, in the past). It could be pre-canon or canon or go wild with aus, say maybe a post
The friendship between Yato and Yukine is also really sweet, so anything exploring that would be awesome.
Yato and Hiyori always have a really cool relationship with the way he tries to protect her and she won't have any of it, so anything exploring that dynamic would also be fabulous. It could be canon, or it could be some kind of wacky au where they are thrown together under different circumstances and Hiyori finds out some secrets about Yato (maybe a purely highschool plus extra something au? Or university and Yato is some kind of spy/detective? Or computer hacker? Anything that parallels the dynamic but not necessarily the canon events.)
Basically I'd really love any combination of these characters and their dynamic, whether in canon or complete au where they all bounce around in a school photography club or something.

I don't even really know what to say except that I love the whole premise of this story so much and Natsume as a character, so really anything about him, whether it's relating to him and Taki Tooru (I'd probably prefer just friendship here) or with Tanuma Kaname (friendship or slash) or just bouncing around with Nyanko-sensei and having adventures would be awesome! Actually, any kind of fic with Natsume, Tooru and Kaname as a fun trio and Nyanko-sensei being loud and boisterous would be great! It could be a random canon-type adventure or something au (their relationships in a different context - say teenage crime sleuths or a hiking club). You can age them up or keep them canon-age, you can play around with Nyanko-sensei's appearance/identity as much as you like.

Bakemonogatari is such wild awesome craziness that I'm really sorry I don't have a good section here for you because I would just love to read anything about it. In general though, something about character interactions, maybe dialogue heavy like the anime with some startling descriptions, maybe another adventure? Another mystery? The interactions between all these characters are just so fascinating. The connection between Araragi Koyomi and Oshino Shinobu is particularly fascinating, as well as Hanekawa Tsubasa always having the answers and Senjougahara Hitagi bossing him around. I'd particularly love to read an ensemble piece with these just bouncing around off each other, whether canon or au.

Corambis was probably my favourite; I know that kind of precludes Gideon, but I wouldn't mind a canon-fix where he's still alive but they are still in Corambis and Mildmay is getting to do education and yelling at Felix for doing too much and taking too much responsibility, or it could just be Mildmay and Felix. I kind of prefer them as just brothers, but if you want to write slash that's cool too! Basically Corambis was my favourite place because of Mildmay and all the trains and things but feel free to mix this all up. I would also love to read some kind of modern au where they're in our world (it could be urban fantasy or completely mundane) and Mildmay and Felix are long lost brothers from different societal strata with their own secrets. Basically anything that explores the dynamic between them! I also love Mehitabel (but I prefer her and Milmay as just close friends) so incorporating her would be fabulous.

It's honestly been a while since I read this, but anything with Door and Richard would be fabulous! I'd like something a bit more on the adventure side (maybe post-canon? when Richard is back?) or maybe au where it's not the same world but still about Richard finding his way to a different layer (whether space travel or writing or criminal investigation or anything you like). Feel free to add any Neverwhere characters you like! The reason I only requested Richard and Door is because I'd like to read a story focused on one or both of them, but other characters are up to you and what fits the story. This is just a shot in the dark and COMPLETELY optional, but if you do happen to write for one of the other fandoms I requested, an au crossover with one or more of those would be fabulous (for instance, if Door takes Richard to Yuuko's gift shop (xxxholic) for a wish). Again, this is only if you happen to write those fandoms.

I'll be honest in that I'm coming to this request pretty blind as I haven't had a chance to actually watch the movie yet though I plan to, so really any kind of character exploration piece or something that tackles the underlying principles of the plot would be fabulous! I love the concepts of a.i. and identity and what makes us "people" and everything like that, so anything dealing with concepts would be great. But I'd also be just as happy to read about the characters in different contexts, or you could do a canon divergence, or au and set it somewhere else. I'd really love to read anything about this!

A Single Man for me was so much about the aesthetics, the poetry of the cinematography, so I'd love to receive something focusing on moments or vignettes perhaps, emotions. It can be canon, or post canon (maybe Carlos thinks about the fascinating man he encountered) or it could be pre-canon (George/Jim) or I would also love a canon-fix-it where Jim doesn't die or maybe an au where the context was different so perhaps Jim dies or doesn't die but the families are supportive and George deals in different ways.

Or what about space au with sky pirates as space pirates and combine sci fi and the fantasy elements of Yvaine as a star! (Any au is great, you don't have to limit yourself to that one.) I only requested Yvaine and Tristan because I'd prefer a story that revolves around one or the both of them, but please feel free to add any other characters as you please!
