Dear sebaekingdom writer,

I don't have very many things I don't like, but you can find my will-not-read list here. Moving on to better things, here are the general things I like to read, and here are a few vague crossover/sidecharacter suggestions.

note about this list: please feel free to mix and mash and blend all these ideas together! You also can write something completely different, or just use these as jumping-off points, or whatever you like. I didn't mention general aus with these prompts, but as a reference (if you haven't checked my things I like list) I really like modern day working people aus, sci fi, space, magical realism, uni etc. and also mash ups of these - like regular everyday uni life on a different planet, or magical realism plus space, or any other combinations, and please feel free to add those aus to any of these prompts or whatever else you like!

note: some of these prompts refer to girls as main characters/depict girls. considering the nature of this exchange as two male kpop idol-centric, please note from my will-not-read list that I don't like to receive genderswapped characters, either as main characters or side characters, as I prefer to read actual kpop girls in these roles. therefore, please interpret these girl-related prompts as inspiration, not immutable ideas. thanks!

1. What I want most is for you to write your own wip! I'd love to be surprised, and I'm sure you'd rather write your own pet project, so as long it doesn't have anything on my will-not-read list, I'm all for this!

2. Person A is an author/artist/mangaka on a tight deadline, rushing out for a quick reference run to the library when he sees Person B, shelving books. When he finds himself at the library again, he slowly gets to know Person B.
bonus: age-swap/reverse age gap would be fun. maybe Person A has just graduated from high school or is in college? This can be platonic friendship (he can be younger in this case), or friendship turned romance, or beautiful fascination or whatever you want. But please no romance if Person A is still in high school or younger.

4. (TRIGGER WARNING: MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH)
inspired by this photo collage

Hyacinth and Apollo.
Apollo was passionately fond of a youth named Hyacinthus. One day they played a game of quoits together, and Apollo, heaving aloft the discus, with strength mingled with skill, sent it high and far. Hyacinthus watched it as it flew, and excited with the sport ran forward to seize it, eager to make his throw, when the quoit bounded from the earth and struck him in the forehead. He fainted and fell. The god, as pale as himself, raised him and tried all his art to stanch the wound and retain the flitting life, but all in vain; the hurt was past the power of medicine. As, when one has broken the stem of a lily in the garden, it hangs its head and turns its flowers to the earth, so the head of the dying boy, as if too heavy for his neck, fell over on his shoulder. “Thou diest, Hyacinth,” so spoke Apollo, “robbed of thy youth by me. Thine is the suffering, mine the crime. Would that I could die for thee! But since that may not be thou shalt live with me in memory and in song. My lyre shall celebrate thee, my song shall tell thy fate, and thou shalt become a flower inscribed with my regrets.” While Apollo spoke, behold the blood which had flowed on the ground and stained the herbage, ceased to be blood; but a flower of hue more beautiful than the Tyrian sprang up, resembling the lily, if it were not that this is purple and that silvery white. And this was not enough for Apollo; but to confer still greater honor, he marked the petals with his sorrow, and inscribed “Ah! Ah!” upon them, as we see to this day. The flower bears the name of Hyacinthus, and with every returning spring revives the memory of his fate.

note: keep this in a mythology au or modernize it or do whatever you like. it can also be reincarnation or metaphorical death or maybe it's an art project or play that people are relating to; anything ^^

5. (TRIGGER WARNINGS: SMOKING, VIOLENCE, DRINKING, SOME HOMOPHOBIA)
inspired by the music video Girls like Girls Hayley Kiyoko. person A likes person B, but person B is already dating person C (of the opposite gender). But between shared moments, eye glances, dancing in the park, something happens.
note: please do not use ex-members for person C. (you can use them anywhere else)

6. inspired by these 7 photographs of the beach

caption: I went to the beach with my 1957 Kodak Pony IV and all my photos came back super hazy and old-looking.
It is okay if you want to pretend I took these is 1957

open interpretation, or something with photography
one idea: maybe finding an old camera and taking photos and developing them and the new ones mesh with the old, it's all in the past or is the past the present?

7. Ljósið by Ólafur Arnalds
oranges (image)
Peeling an orange

Between you and a bowl of oranges I lie nude
Reading The World’s Illusion through my tears.
You reach across me hungry for global fruit,
Your bare arm hard, furry and warm on my belly.
Your fingers pry the skin of a naval orange
Releasing tiny explosions of spicy oil.
You place peeled disks of gold in a bizarre pattern
On my white body. Rearranging, you bend and bite
The disks to release further their eager scent.
I say “Stop, you’re tickling,” my eyes still on the page.
Aromas of groves arise. Through green leaves
Glow the lofty snows. Through red lips
Your white teeth close on a translucent segment.
Your face over my face eclipses The World’s Illusion.
Pulp and juice pass into my mouth from your mouth.
We laugh against each other’s lips. I hold my book
Behind your head, still reading, still weeping a little.
You say “Read on, I’m just an illusion,” rolling
Over upon me soothingly, gently unmoving,
Smiling greenly through long lashes. And soon
I say “Don’t stop. Don’t disillusion me.”
Snows melt. The mountain silvers into many a stream.
The oranges are golden worlds in a dark dream.

tinge of intelligence

there is autumn in
the folds of your hair
an acute tinge of intelligence
sits in the air
and just like that
my eyes shift to you
I don’t know you
but I want to
my mind splits in two
half of me is in love
the other is daydreaming
about reading to you

Plano. The word conjures up drive-ins, tract homes, waves of heat rising from the blacktop. My years there created for me an expendable past, disposable as a plastic cup. Which I suppose was a very great gift, in a way. On leaving home I was able to fabricate a new and far more satisfying history, full of striking, simplistic environmental influences; a colorful past, easily accessible to strangers. The dazzle of this fictive childhood—full of swimming pools and orange groves and dissolute, charming show-biz parents—has all but eclipsed the drab original. In fact, when I think about my real childhood I am unable to recall much about it at all except a sad jumble of objects: the sneakers I wore year-round; coloring books and comics from the supermarket and the squashed old football I contributed to neighborhood games; little of interest, less of beauty. I was quiet, tall for my age, prone to freckles. I didn’t have many friends but whether this was due to choice or circumstance I do not now know. I did well in school, it seems, but not exceptionally well. My clothes were cheap and my haircut too short and no one at school seemed to like me that much; and since all this had been true for as long as I could remember, I felt things would doubtless continue in this depressing vein as far as I could foresee. In short: I felt my existence was tainted, in some subtle but essential way.

THE BLACK SPRING BY ESTEBAN
A NEO-NOIR PORTRAIT OF MODERN BALLET.
Words | Jonathan Poh Translation | Ian Tsang

Credit my ongoing inability to dance, teenage rebellion against classical music or the dated productions I was often dragged to by my mother, but I’ve never been a great fan of ballet and what I’ve long considered to be an overly-ornate and precious style. In recent years, however, I’ve slowly come to appreciate the pure essence of the art form, as well as its timelessness, both of which are beautifully depicted in La Primavera Negra (Spanish for ‘The Black Spring’) -- a short debut film by Copenhagen-based photographer Esteban.

Set in an old fabric hall in Dusseldorf and shot in stark black and white, the film features 22-year-old danseur Jackson Carroll, a rising star in the German ballet scene and a fluid, wonderfully expressive talent. Clad in garments from ?Yohji Yamamoto and Dries Van Noten, Carroll is depicted here in a single-camera shot that’s set to a contemporary take on Vivaldi’s “Summer” by German avant-garde composer Max Richter. The result is a gorgeous, sweeping piece that eschews ornamentation for a minimal, “neo-noir” style that’s thoroughly modern. “I always thought it would be nice to do a ballet film which is not a typical, beautiful Swan Lake-style production,” explains Esteban of his foray into the art form.

EXIT MOVEMENT film
MINO

teaser film
poem the excerpt is from:
Motion

The swaying motion on the bank of the river falls,
The chasm at the sternpost,
The swiftness of the hand-rail,
The huge passing of the current
Conduct by unimaginable lights
And chemical newness
Voyagers surrounded by the waterspouts of the valley
And the current.

They are the conquerors of the world
Seeking a personal chemical fortune;
Sports and comfort travel with them;
They take the education
Of races, classes, and animals, on this Boat.
Repose and dizziness
To the torrential light,
To the terrible nights of study.

For from the talk among the apparatus,—blood, flowers, fire, jewels—
From the agitated accounts on this fleeing deck,
—You can see, rolling like a dyke beyond the hydraulic motor road,
Monstrous, illuminated endlessly,—their stock of studies;
Themselves driven into harmonic ecstasy
And the heroism of discovery.

In the most startling atmospheric happenings

A youthful couple withdraws into the archway
,
—Is it an ancient coyness that can be forgiven?—
And sings and stands guard.

TAEHYUN

teaser film
poem the excerpt is from:
Song of the Highest Tower

Idle youth
Enslaved to everything,
By being too sensitive
I have wasted my life.
Ah! Let the time come
When hearts are enamoured.

I said to myself: let be,
And let no one see you:
Do without the promise
Of higher joys.
Let nothing delay you,
Majestic retirement.

I have endured so long
That I have forgotten everything;
Fear and suffering
Have flown to the skies.
And morbid thirst
Darkens my veins.

Thus the meadow
Given over to oblivion,
Grown up, and flowering
With frankincense and tares
To the wild buzzing
Of a hundred filthy flies.

Oh! the thousand bereavements
Of the poor soul
Which possesses only the image
Of Our Lady!
Can one pray
To the Virgin Mary?

Idle youth

Enslaved by everything
,
By being too sensitive
I have wasted my life.
Ah! Let the time come
When hearts are enamoured!

May 1872

15. inspired by The Replacement. (don't read the book! It's just a jumping-off point)
Person A has never felt like he fit in, slowly dying in a world where everything is poison. He knows he doesn't belong here, but he doesn't want to leave. But when Person B gets involved, he may have to stand up, fight against the rising black tide.
bonus: high school or uni au! adding girls as side characters would be especially awesome.
note: can use fairy/changeling-related plot points or something completely different. Up to you!

I'll be happy to answer any questions and/or provide more prompts; please feel free to contact me via the mods.

Thank you!
