Prompts you’d like to see written (at least three):
a. inspired by The Ark's Let your body decide (no warnings apply). Open interpretation or person a slowly figuring out their identity, orientation, in relation to their friends and classmates/colleagues.
b. Inspired by this real Japanese service. There's a kind of paid escort service where a client pays a hot guy to come and make them cry before wiping away their tears. Person a is a seasoned veteran but he's used to getting only female clients, so when he arrives and meets person b, he's surprised.
c. inspired by this Tumblr text. Open interpretation or person a neutralizes powers and person b is being detained due to losing control.
d. Inspired by this Tumblr text. Open interpretation or person a and person b are bffs but there's a weakening of the barrier between our dimensions and they see or meet their parallel selves. . .who are dating.
e. inspired by Taehyung's cover of Adele's Someone like you. Open interpretation or Taehyung's girlfriend left him for a boy, or boyfriend left him for a girl, and Taehyung slowly picks himself up again. (You can substitute any member.)
Crazy Bonus: if he somehow ends up with his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend.
f. Inspired by Taehyung dancing in heels for Star King. Open interpretation or Taehyung is a modern/hiphop dancer (uni au?) who comes across a video of a guy dancing in heels and decides to try it. Then he discovers he likes it.
g. image of a boat on land Open interpretation or future au/space au: on earth/different planet, there's been a twenty year drought, and people are starting to leave, but person a lingers in this place, the only home he's ever had.
Bonus: if there's a tangible link keeping him, like the grave of a relative or friend.
h. inspired by Lana Del Rey's Music To Watch Boys To Open interpretation or person a drifts along in life, always watching, never engaging. He falls in and out of bed, but no one pulls back the covers of his heart.
i. image of a person almost covered in flowers Open interpretation. Caption reads: you can't take this from me.
j. image of a man and a mirror Open interpretation or personal wakes up one morning to mind that his reflection has disappeared.
k. image of a man and torch Open interpretation or, after graduation from high school/uni, person a and his friends celebrate, wondering about the future and kissing the people they always wanted to kiss.
l. image of lamps Open interpretation or May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out.—Galadriel.
m. inspired by Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff. It's a hot summer and person a's best friend has just died. There's a serial killer on the roam. Feel free to change everything/anything and you don't have to read the book - getting inspired by the synopsis is fine!
n. inspired by dúné's dry lips. Open interpretation or bored teens spinning out of control, getting involved in things (I'm picturing politics) that they don't fully understand the gravity of.
o. 11. inspired Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden. Open interpretation or person a is a recent orphan coming to live with uncle and person b (cousin or whatever), and person c is a local boy/girl. Feel free to set this however you like. Person b can be a cousin or you can change that (in some settings relationships with cousins are historically acceptable; it's up to you).
Bonus: happy poly ending would be awesome, but you can end however you like (genfic is fine!) but I'd prefer to not have it end with a binary relationship.
p. inspired by Pushing Daisies (You don't have to follow the show at all - feel free to make up your own thing entirely.) Person a is a piemaker (or any kind of baker etc.) who can bring things back to life with one touch. This has a lot of drawbacks.
q. inspired by Milk & Bone's New York. Open interpretation.
Bonus: infidelity
r. inspired by ex machina (feel free to disregard entirely) Open interpretation or here's a new project with person a scientist, person b employee acting as a test interactor, and person c the A.I. But what defines human consciousness? What is real? What is false?
Note: feel free to take it in a horror or romance or sci-fi direction.
s. inspired by Lana Del Rey's High by the beach. Open interpretation or take the route of the music video: person a is the companion of person b (or crossover) who keeps person a as a trophy "wife", but person a is secretly a contract killer hired to kill person b, a wealthy something-or-other. Will person a fall in love? Will he complete the assignment? Or maybe this is a relationship gone wrong and person a is getting revenge. You pick!
Bonus: guns or mini rocket launchers
t. NELL the day before mv lyrics
Prompt idea: Person a is a documentary filmmaker tasked to film person b's life story.
Note: please take the mv/song/lyrics/book sections, discard which ever parts you don't want and run with the rest. Feel free to disregard the prompt idea above as well
Note: in the mv a clear liquid is poured into the coffee. Just to clarify, most coffee shops in Korea provide simple syrup as sweetener. This is NOT necessarily poison.
Note: Lee Minki's character in the mv is reading a book: John Berger's And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos (1984). The camera zooms up on the first parts of section 1 (below), the other sections are other pages that show up briefly in the mv.
# section 1
3. Leaving
pain
cannot
endure long enough
tracks vanish
under snow
the white embrace
of leaving
I have tried to write the truth on trains
without an ear
the tongue takes fright
clings to a single word
the train is crossing a bridge
black ice collects
on each letter
SAVA
my river
# section 2
We woke up in a friend's house where there was a piano. We had slept on a mattress on the floor. The piano was in the room below. The two children of the house were playing an exercise before going to school. An exercise for four hands. Sometimes they stumbled and began the phrase again. If ours were the eighteenth century, when questions opened idly like doors onto gardens, I might ask you: Do you remember? But in our century, when only evil and indifference are limitless, we cannot afford unnecessary questions; rather, we need to defend ourselves with whatever there is to hand of certainty. I know that you remember. The two children were playing lightly and dutifully and the notes filled the house. You were lying with your back to me, your breasts in my hands. Neither of us stirred. The music commanded a little listening and we listened—just as one can gaze at the wallpaper in a hotel room without really looking at it. Waking up to that music played lightly and dutifully by the children before going to school was the nearest we shall ever be, my heart, to waking up at home before we left.
# section 3
A VIEW OF DELFT
In that town,
across the water
where all has been seen
and the bricks are cherished like sparrows,
in that town like a letter from home
read again and again in a port,
in that town with its library of tiles
and its addresses recalled by Johannes Vermeer
who died in debt,
in that town across the water
where the dead take the census
and there are no vacant rooms
for his gaze occupies them all,
where the sky is waiting
to have news of a birth,
in that town which pours from the eyes
of those who left it,
there
between two chimes of the morning,
when fish are sold in the square
and the maps on the walls
show the depth of the sea,
in that town
I am preparing for your arrival.
# section 4
What reconciles me to my own death more than anything else is the image of a place: a place where your bones and mine are buried, thrown, uncovered, together. They are strewn there pell-mell. One of your ribs leans against my skull. A metacarpal of my left hand lies inside your pelvis. (Against my broken ribs your breast like a flower.) The hundred bones of our feet are scattered like gravel. It is strange that this image of our proximity, concerning as it does mere phosphate of calcium, should bestow a sense of peace. Yet it does. With you I can imagine a place where to be phosphate of calcium is enough.
u. Hanahaki disease: hanahaki byou (花吐き病)
A (optional: fatal) disease of the human system where a person coughs up flowers due to severe one-sided love. (Optional: Its infection route is through contact with vomited flowers.) In order to fully recover from the disease, the person’s one-sided-love must be returned. (Optional: there could be an invasive surgery option to remove the infestation, but this would remove all feelings towards that person irrevocably.)
v. yoga instructor au where person a goes to yoga to relax, but the instructor is so painfully distracting(ly attractive) that it's causing the opposite effect.
w. inspired by Dennou Coil PLEASE DEVIATE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE/EXTENSIVELY
Person a is moving to a new town and falls in with persons b, c, d etc. It's set in the future, where everyone wears glasses to be able to see the digital pseudo-reality layered over everything. But there are urban legends of being able to forge a connection to close to the glasses, the danger of being trapped in the digital world.
bonus: kid au would be fun but anything else is great too
x. inspired by The Magicians PLEASE DEVIATE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE/EXTENSIVELY
Person a gets into a prep school for magic but this doesn't hide the fact that he's running away from his own problems. When, together with his friends (boys and girls whatever you like), they discover a way to enter a whole new realm of worlds, person a's problems only magnify.
y. Inspired by otsuichi's GOTH PLEASE DEVIATE AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE/EXTENSIVELY
Person a has a habit of meeting murders and getting mixed up in their lives, but person b keeps them in their sight, though person a seems to come out okay. But will person b ever step in if necessary? (feel free to write whatever)
Bonus: junior high or high school or university would be fun but anything is great
z. person a is in a long-term happy relationship with person b. person a also is an avid (your choice or real or invented) MMORPG player and in the course of their game play they end up forming a partnership and getting "virtually married" to an online player, person c, with the knowledge of person b. but after a while, considering the amount of time person a spends interacting with person c, person b gets curious and wants to meet them. what happens next?
