person a goes on a trip retracing steps to search for what really happened to his older sibling/childhood friend who died/committed suicide a couple of years previously. On the way he meets person b, his sibling/friend's former boyfriend, who seems to knows more than he is letting on.

person a is sent to a boarding school for wealthy but problem kids after the suicide/accidental death of his childhood friend/secret boyfriend/girlfriend. He meets/falls in love with another person b who has their own problems, and falls in with some others who together from a group of reckless and disruptive teenagers who are maybe delinquent and rampantly destructive, not out of a desire to be so, but to cover up their own internal pain.
